We are a generation brought up on promising, bright coloured advertising, and nowhere is this more apparent than footwear commercials of the 1980s and early 1990s. It had got to the point, when the Reebok Pump was elbowing its’ way to popularity against the Nike Air, that their campaigns would openly go against the rival brands product. This almost became the style of cool, brands advertisements going out there and saying their footwear is better. For this reason, Hitop Heaven has given the 1989 Reebok Pump commercial starring Dominique Wilkins the top spot – for its’ simple retro grace, and classic superstar endorsement.
At number 2, none only than MC Hammer doing his bit for British Knight’s footwear, another commercial trying to aim sneaker wearers away from the dominant force Nike.
The next two have made the shortlist, purely for their stupidness, let yous sneaker geek eyes feast on these next 2 retro commercial gems.
And finally, coming fifth in this current top five count down, is an all star show out for Converse Weapon, this campaign reaching our screens during the NBA’s 1986/1987 title.
If you have any suggestions for any sneaker ads that beat any of these into the Top 5 Retro Sneaker Ads, post them below in the comments!
Celebrations for the 20th Anniversary of the Pump continue as Reebok release the Twilight Zone Pump. Unlike the actual 20th anniversary Pump editions, reprods of the 1989 classics, these Pumps are based on the OG model of the 1990’s – the only difference being that the midsole is slightly slimmer. Available in only two colours, basically black or white, we’ve chosen to show the White/Neon Yellow/Black model.
If you wanted to get your hands on the original Bringbacks which were released on über limited edition in December, these will soften the blow as theyre available for all at size? online now for £89.99 in various sizes:
SIZE? Covent Garden are selling limited edition 20th Anniversary Reebok Pump’s tonight and tonight only. As well as reprods of the original black and white varieties, which they seem to be labeling the London Pack, they have collaberated with international sneaker retailers for a dozen different colour schemes and interpretations of what the modern Pump should be. They are retailing at £140 ($200) and are going to be sold out tonight!! They are only available at the Covent Garden Store, which has relocated further up Neal Street, and dont make the mistake I did, they’re only available from 1900 GMT tonight! Size? say that you can still buy from them online after tonight, however I think there are literally only a couple of pairs going up, so consider yourself lucky if you get you hands on them!
